A list of services is displayed to customers when they access the Services Catalog. These could be any services you want to list for any reason. The list provides a quick means of accessing the details of the service item and entering a request for the service without having to drill down through the various service categories. The list might contain the most popular services of a particular organization or it might contain new services with which few people are familiar or it might be services that are under-utilized and which you want to highlight. The Hot List displays a list of the names of the services, so you might want to keep that in mind when naming them. A name that does not describe the service well will not convey much meaning in the Hot list.
To create your Hot List:
From the CMDB toolbar, click Services Catalog. The Service Catalog is displayed.
The Hot List is displayed on the right side of the Service Catalog page. Click the Customize This List button. The Service Catalog Hot List Administration page is displayed.
Enter a Title for the list. This will be displayed at the top of the list when customers view the Service Catalog. You might use the title Featured Services for services that are especially popular, or you might title the list New Services and include a roster of services you have recently added in the list.
Optionally enter a message to appear at the top of the list. This might explain the nature of the list and can include images or any other data you wish to include.
Next, add the services to the list. The All Services field on the left side of the page displays all of the Services offered in all categories. Click on a service in the All field and then click the Add button. The service will be added to the Chosen for List field. Continue to add services until your list is complete.
The order in which the services appear in Chosen for List field is the order in which they are displayed in the Service Catalog. To change the order, click on a service that you wish to move and then use the up and down arrows to change its position in the field.
If you wish to remove a service from the Chosen for List field, click on the service and then click the Remove button. This does not remove the service itself; it only removes it from the Hot List.
The Max to Show field allows you to set a limit on the number of services displayed on the Service Catalog. To leave it unlimited, do not enter anything in the field. Otherwise, enter an integer in the field.
When you have finished selecting services to list and have set your maximum number to be displayed, click the SAVE button. The Service Catalog is displayed and the services you selected are displayed in the Hot List, along with the title and any text you entered.
